Still Life

A move has taken place today. A change. We are now located in the wonderful warm lands of Rendon, Texas yet again. We are in house, not far from where I grew up and not far from Shannon’s family. We are in the heart of friends of family. So this was the decision we made a few months back. We have almost completed everything in the implementation of that decision. God has been with us all the while and watched over us. A new lifestyle is going to arise from this change. We will not have easy access to the internet. As a matter of fact, we won’t have access at all. However, we are going to get library cards on Monday and we plan to pacify that need with that. It won’t be the same I know. Once you go high speed you never go back. This is true because I would rather not have anything as opposed to our only other alternative….the dial up. Think about how much time you waste of your life using dial up. The few that have dial up and are reading my blog…I salute you!! You are a dedicated reader and there will be a special crown for you in heaven, but I’m sure you have more important things to do right now. Well, I wish all of you a Happy July 4th, 2006. Spend time with your friends and family and don’t let life pass you by.
What did you mean by that Shaheen? I was talking to Shannon about this the other day. So many people spend their lives trying to get to the next thing. If they aren’t married, then that is their focus. If they are married, then maybe it’s a house. If they have the house then they prepare for child. It really never ends. None of these things are wrong. Oh and don’t think for a minute that I don’t believe you should have goals. Goals are very important. I also don’t believe you should spend your whole life without sitting up for a breath of air. I mean, spend time in reflection. Spend time in thought, because life is too beautiful not to look at it. Look at your own lives man!! Stop with your agenda for the day!! Stop with what you want to get done this week!! Stop!!! Breathe. Now look at your life and hopefully it’s not for the first time. You only get one of these. Now you may proceed…but wasn’t that fun?? If it wasn’t, then you now know what you need to do to make the next time more enjoyable. Happiness should never be a goal in life, it’s a prerequisite!

A Beautiful Picture

I know what you are going to say after reading this blog. “You have already told us this…over and over and over. We get the point!!!” However, when you love something so much you can’t stop talking about it, then you will fail in the attempts to silence me. I’ve got a light and I’m going to let it shine!!!!

Do you really know how special Shannon is?? Right now, take a minute and gather whatever opinion you have of her. Let me tell you that her awesomeness has no bounds. She is an absolute beauty inside and out. We have nearly been married for 1 year now, but we have been together at least 4 ½. Today we talked for 3 hours on the couch about nonsense and I have so much fun with her. She is my best friend by far. I can tell her anything. When I hear she is coming to be with me, wherever I am, I get that same feeling inside that I would get when I was in 1st grade and my mom would pull up to pick me up from my first day of school. She is a very special person.

Her students, along with their parents, have come to realize this as well. She had a wonderful first year. She has touched lives. She has had at least 4 parents tell her how much she meant to their child and how thankful they are that she was their child’s teacher. I bet if you asked her if she plans to achieve her career goals, she would tell you that she already has been. I bet if she never taught another year, she could say she was overfilled with the amount of love her students gave her. She really is a great teacher. I saw her teach at least 7 times last year. She is an artist. I just love the fact that I get her for the rest of our lives.

“Dear Lord…thank you so much for giving me this life. I may never invent anything that will carry my name forever. I may never lead armies or become president of a huge company. I am blessed to have this wife that You have given me and hopefully with Your guidance, I’ll be able to touch lives like she does. I pray that my kids and my kids’ kids have a life like mine and meet a person like Shannon. She is one of a kind. Thank you.”

Mavs Blow Chunks

Well, I'm not much of a basketball fan, but I've been watching the Mavs and supporting them. Well, they pulled a Rangers on me. They aren't clutch in the big, BIG games and they got what they deserved. They got beat by the better team. Jason Terry couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, but that didn't stop him from trying and that was the story for all of them. Josh Howard was playing middle school ball. Everytime he went to shoot, he would let a 40 year old man throw his stuff 6 rows up. Dirk couldn't hit his open shots tonight, except when the whistle was blown he could sink that free shot from anywhere on the court. Too bad it didn't count. Jerry Stackhouse who?? Mark Cuban would have played with more fire. Brick after brick was the story for the Mavs in the Finals. After watching them blow big lead after big lead, I've decided that they just aren't a big time team

Ants

So one night Shannon and I are just getting some sleep and then around 3 am Shannon turns the light on and says something is biting her. We pull back the covers and there are ants climbing the walls and climbing the bed. Ants!!! We are in a second floor apt!!! Well, I had to make a late night/early morning walmart run. I nuked every one of them. Do you think I saw the last of them?? No sir!!! They found another way into my bathroom. That’s ok, cause I was prepared!! I nuked em and sealed up there entrance. Well, the war wages on. They hit me where it hurt the next time they appeared. The sacred and taboo….the kitchen. Yes, they were crawling all over my counter. Well, I had told the apt manager about my “run in,” but her reply was that it would be a week before the exterminator could come. She gave me some ant bait. Well, I started to do the ant bait, but I just couldn’t watch them run all over my kitchen. I killed every last one of em. So you think I would be done with it. Nope. I found em in my closet yesterday. I tell you what…Friday can’t get here fast enough. This place aint big enough for all of us. There can be only one!!

A New Blog!

I know it has been sometime since I last wrote a blog, but busy I have been. I had written a nice blog about field day at Shannon’s school because I went to help her. Those kids are hilarious. Well, I never posted it because I kept getting sidetracked. Anyway…I replaced the hard drive on my old pc with a bigger one so all old data, unless I backed it up, is lost. The old one was locking up and I knew it was time. I put Linux on part of it so I can learn a little bit about it.

Let me recap the past month. Shannon accepted a job at Alvarado North elementary school. I have been doing ECAP process to get certified to teach and I take my content test Saturday morning. I found us a place to live in Rendon which we are currently fixing up. Actually Shannon is fixing it up. See it’s my great aunt’s place, but she has been in a nursing home so we are going to live there and take care of it. Well, I know this isn’t an exciting blog, but I thought I would bring you up to speed on where we are. Now, many things to do and so little time…
